The Zafimaniry country is an originality of the highlands.
Located at the limit of the fracture of the plateaus towards the east, it was a country of forests and sculptors, but massive deforestation and fire have razed the hills and emptied the forest potential which remains only by scraps scattered in the hollow of the valleys.
This testimony of destruction is terrible to see, but it testifies more than elsewhere to the demographic pressure and the weight of the traditions of culture on “tavy” fire which ravages the country. It is a very hilly area of hills and the walk consists of going up and down to approach areas of cultures and superb villages with strange houses. Everything is sculpture in this country of wood tradition where the simple knife makes a rosette with the “raised hand”.

ITINERARY

DAY 1
Antananarivo – Antoetra
- A long day of transportation via the RN7 to reach the village of Antoetra, via Ambositra, the gateway to the Zafimaniry country.
- Meals: picnic lunch / dinner
- Night in rooms and bungalows (“comfort” category DBL or TWN with bathroom and wc)
DAY 2
Antoetra – Village 1
- Transfer by 4 × 4 after the village of Antoetra (1 hour). Picnic. Hike “warm up”, 3h00 and arrival at the village.
- Camping dinner and overnight in tents.
Meals: breakfast / picnic lunch / dinner - Overnight camping / igloo tent with mattress
Night in rooms and bungalows (“comfort” category DBL or TWN with bathroom and wc)
DAY 3
Village 1 – Village 2
- Day hike to cross the hills and ravines of the country, visit the villages and meet the population on the way (6h00).
Camping dinner and overnight in tents. - Meals: breakfast / picnic lunch / dinner
- Overnight camping / igloo tent with mattress
DAY 4
Village 2 – Village 3
- Hiking day to cross the hills and ravines of the country, visit the villages and meet the population on the way (4h00).

DAY 5
Village 3 – Antoetra and transfert to Ambositra
