FOREST LODGE PANGALANES
Andranotsara
Located in the heart of the coastal forest of the east coast of Madagascar, this establishment is only accessible on foot and by boat. With a capacity of 16 people, the lodge is a real haven of tranquility set between the canal and the Indian Ocean, an ideal place to relax, explore and unwind in contact with nature.
Hike, guided walk, bird watching and “Microcebes” (nocturnal) lemurs living in the forest near the lodge, canoe trips on the canal to discover the flora and fauna or meet with fishermen from the village of Andranotsara distant from 2 km.
Built exclusively of wood, bamboo and Ravenala (traveler’s tree), the houses of Pangalanes Forest Lodge are inspired by traditional Betsimisaraka architecture.
The Pangalanes Forest-Lodge is located 3 hours by boat south of the town of Mahanoro.
Our boat “Ravintsy” provides passenger transport and tours.
ECO ETHICS & COMFORT
THE BUNGALOWS
Two “4 TWN beds” bungalows and three “family” bungalows (4 TWN beds), each with a covered terrace. Solar lights.
Each bungalow has an open-air bathroom-shower (bucket shower) and dry toilets. The beds are fitted with mosquito nets and impeccable bedding.
Constructions 100% local materials (no concrete).
Group to recharge your devices. Our choice of lighting is the “kerosene lamp” for the retro charm of the dining room, solar for your bungalows.

Swimming pontoon in the canal (fresh, clean and safe water).
Wood-fired bakery for fresh morning bread. Waste sorting and recycling.
Our fishing neighbors provide the table in “maso vo toaka”, the endemic tilapia of Pangalanes, camarons and large sea fish.
PROTECTION & REFORESTATION
The looting of forests and resources remains THE major problem in Madagascar.
Each traveler who comes here visits the nursery, takes part in our reforestation project by choosing their tree to plant it in the “working” area, in order to participate in this emergency work and leave their mark there … concerned.
The partnership with the communities has entrusted us with the management of 17 hectares of forest around the lodge.
The beach is a nesting site (November) for sea turtles and we take care of their protection.
HEALTH EDUCATION
A school action was carried out in July 2014 with the CEG of Ambodiharina. It will be continued and developed.
